Quezon City has emerged as a hub for sports enthusiasts and aspiring athletes, offering a range of facilities and programs designed to promote physical activity and athletic excellence.
World-Class Facilities
The Amoranto Sports Complex stands as a testament to the city’s commitment to sports development. Recently renovated, the complex now boasts indoor and outdoor facilities catering to basketball, volleyball, badminton, football, and swimming. Notably, the Olympic-sized swimming pool, complete with competition-grade lanes and modern amenities, is open to the public daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an entrance fee of P100 per person.
Grassroots Programs
Recognizing the importance of nurturing young talent, the Quezon City Sports Development Office has launched city-wide grassroots programs. These initiatives include inter-barangay basketball leagues, providing a platform for youth to hone their skills and potentially represent the city in higher-level competitions.
Community Engagement
Local organizations, such as the Junji Youth Club in Barangay Kaligayahan, actively promote healthy living among the youth through sports leagues during school vacations and other community events.
Educational Institutions’ Contributions
Schools like Miriam College and St. Vincent School offer various sports programs, including futsal, archery, basketball, and volleyball, fostering a culture of athleticism among students.
With these facilities and programs, Quezon City continues to cultivate a vibrant sports culture, encouraging residents to engage in physical activities and pursue athletic excellence.
