Quezon City has been at the forefront of fostering a business-friendly environment, implementing various initiatives to support local entrepreneurs and stimulate economic growth.
Streamlining Business Registration
Recognizing the challenges faced by small-scale entrepreneurs, the city introduced the Nano-Enterprise Registration Program. This initiative simplifies the registration process for micro-business owners, such as sari-sari store vendors and carinderia operators, enabling them to formalize their operations and access financial aid, training, and other support services.
Empowering Food Vendors
In a significant move to support informal sector food vendors, Quezon City institutionalized the Vendor Business School (VBS) through Ordinance No. 3430-S-2025. This program provides comprehensive training on safe food handling, climate change adaptation, and sustainability, equipping vendors with the skills needed to thrive in a dynamic urban market.
Fostering Innovation and Startups
The city launched the Startup QC Program to nurture entrepreneurship and innovation. This initiative offers resources, mentorship, and funding opportunities to startups and entrepreneurs, aiming to establish a vibrant startup ecosystem. Notably, seven startups were awarded ₱1 million each during the Startup QC Cohort 4 Demo Day, reflecting the city’s commitment to supporting innovative ventures.
Economic Incentives for Businesses
To attract and retain medium and large enterprises, Quezon City amended its Local Economic Development Incentives Code (City Ordinance SP-3296, S-2024). The revised code offers tax exemptions and other incentives to new and expanding businesses, encouraging investment and contributing to the city’s economic dynamism.
Digital Transformation
Embracing digitalization, the city operates 31 integrated digital systems delivering over 130 business and citizen services. This digital-first approach streamlines processes, such as business registration and permit renewals, providing entrepreneurs with efficient and transparent services.
Through these initiatives, Quezon City continues to set a standard for supporting local businesses, fostering innovation, and driving economic growth, solidifying its position as a leading business hub in the Philippines.
